We would like to give you a warm welcome to the trail, and let you know that we began Deer Trail as a fun hobby, after we got the cam set up and began enjoying watching with friends & family we took off the password so that we could share the live stream with others around the world.

From there Deer trail has grown to 3 cams & it's own domain. Most of the site and some of the trail ideas have come from viewers just like you who have made suggestions, and they sounded like fun, and we could figure out how it could be done. This is the core and idea of Deer Trail, it is here for all of us to enjoy. From time to time people ask how they can help out at Deer Trail. Below we have tried to put together some information about the chats. We love hearing from you and enjoy talking to people around the globe. Understanding how the chats work we thought would help everyone to be able to participate and enjoy the chats while watching the animals on the trail! About the Chat Room feature on Deer Trail

We use the Chat Rooms that are found on Ustream, which also provides the live stream for the cams which is a free service in exchange for advertisements. Ustream provides a community help service for users. You do not need to sign up or in to visit the service to recieve help with the chats or other services at Ustream in the Ustream Help Chat. To be able to chat at Deer Trail with a User Name you must sign up at Ustream which has a Terms of Service & an Account Help page. There are also two forums at Ustream where you may find help: Ustream Helpers Forum & the main forum To sign up to be able to chat visit the "Join Ustream" page or directly in the chat use the quick sign up (see below). If you have trouble as always feel free to mail us and we will try to help you!

Type something into the chat box and click the "Send" button:

Click on the "Sign up" button:

Fill in the information and then click the "Submit" button.
If there are exclamation marks, than those
fields will need to be changed to be able to sign up:

Log in Help:

Once you have signed up use the following information to log in to the Chats:

Type something into the box below "Audience" and click the "Send" button:

Type in your Ustream Username & Password and click the "Login" button.

Once logged in you can press the enter button on
the key board or the send button after typing in the words you
would like to say in the box below audience.

Using the different Chat Features

You can see who is in the chat room by clicking on the "Show Users" icon in the chat box:

You can hide or show the Topic by clicking on the "Chat Options" icon and selecting Hide the topic.

If you would like to talk to someone in a private chat click on their name and a little box will pop up chose "Private Message". Down next to Audience the name of the person will show up, and make a new private chat, to see the other chat box click on Audience again:

When you sign up at the chat you also have your own personal chat room at Ustream.

Lost password or user name: To find your password or user name you will need to go to Ustream and click on the login at the top of the page, a box will pop up. Under the login will be a link to get your password or user name.

More about the Chat Rooms:

  • Who are we? Husband/deerfeeder & Wife/blgwd.
  • The Ustream-Bot is not a person but like a filter Ro-bot, and does not talk to people.
  • We can slow the chat, if it is too fast, remind us, sometimes we get to talking and forget.
  • Some people can't sign out of Ustream, and may not be in the chat to actually chat.
  • We can't log in and erase the chat. If you refresh the page it will clear anything offensive.
  • To watch with out the chats click here and select an option that says "no chat(s)".
  • You can log in to more than one chat at a time, but it takes a few tries.
